Puffed Wheat Treats image

A delicious snack similar in preparation and style to Rice Krispie Squares, but tastes nothing like them. Although, they taste nothing like them.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/3 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
12 cups puffed wheat cereal

Steps:

  • Boil butter, brown sugar, molasses, and corn syrup for 5 minutes.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Prepare puffed wheat in a large bowl. Butter a 12x9 pan.
  • Add boiling syrup to puffed wheat and stir well.
  • Quickly press mix into baking dish and press down with the spoon.
  • Cool, cut, and enjoy!

YAY!!! I love Puffed Wheat Squares. This is a recipe that I came up with that absolutely works for me. I hope you love it too! Hint: Be careful to not let mixture boil longer than 5 minutes to ensure a chewy square.

3/4 cup corn syrup
3/4 cup margarine
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
11 cups puffed wheat cereal

Steps:

  • Combine corn syrup, margarine, brown sugar, and cocoa in heavy sauce pan.
  • Boil for 5 minutes; remove from heat.
  • Add puffed wheat; stir.
  • Using buttered pans; pour mixture into greased 13 by 9 inch cake pan. Pat into pan.
  • Let cool; cut into squares.

Anyone can make good puffed wheat cake with this recipe. If followed, you will never have hard puffed wheat cake again. This one is very soft and gooey and chewy.

1/2 cup margarine
1 cup corn syrup
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
5 tablespoons cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla
9 cups puffed wheat cereal

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients except vanilla and puffed wheat in a sauce pan.
  • Bring to just a boil over medium heat. Just boil it until "3 bubbles" pop. Do not stir very much, just enough so it won't burn.
  • Take pot off of the heat and add the vanilla and mix it inches.
  • Pour sauce over puffed wheat and mix until all is coated with the sauce.
  • Pour into a 9x13 pan and let cool.
  • Enjoy.

7 cups milk
1 tablespoon yogurt

Steps:

  • Pour in all the milk.
  • Place lid on Instant Pot and close the Pressure Valve.
  • Push the Yogurt button and then the Adjust button, until it says "boil.".
  • When Beep is heard, open lid and remove cooking pot. Allow it to cool to 100 - 115 degrees, stirring occasionally.
  • When temperature is reached, remove a cup of the milk and add yogurt to the cup and whisk in well. Add that cup back into the cooking pot and whisk in thoroughly.
  • Place cooking pot into the Instant Pot and replace lid.
  • Press the Yogurt button and the display screen will say 8:00 (hit again or Adjust, if necessary). Adjust time to 6 hours.
  • When the beep is heard, remove the cooking pot and strain the yogurt. Place in the fridge to chill.

10 cups puffed wheat cereal
1 cup corn syrup
1 cup white sugar
½ cup butter
6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Grease a 9x13-inch pan. Place puffed wheat in a large heat-proof bowl; set aside.
  • Bring corn syrup, white sugar, butter, cocoa powder, and brown sugar to a boil in a heavy saucepan. Remove cocoa mixture from heat; stir in vanilla extract. Pour cocoa mixture over puffed wheat cereal; stir until well combined.
  • Press puffed wheat mixture into prepared pan. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
