MOM'S EASY CROCK POT BBQ RIBS



Mom's Easy Crock Pot BBQ Ribs image

This is how my mom always made BBQ ribs, and it can't get any easier. This method keeps the sauce nice & thick. I'm posting it here mainly to see what the nutritional information is.

2 lbs boneless pork ribs
1 (18 ounce) bottle favorite barbecue sauce (we like thick & spicy KC Masterpiece)
salt & pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Place ribs in crock pot and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook on low all day-- 6-8 hours.
  • About an hour before supper time, drain all the liquid from the pot. Return ribs to pot and pour in the BBQ sauce. Simmer on low another hour.
  • Serve and enjoy!

My mom makes the best crock pot ribs ever! I think the secret is using open pit BBQ sauce.. She's tried it with other sauces but it just isn't the same! Serve with corn on the cob and rice! yum!!

15 country style ribs
1 large white onion (peeled and sliced into thin rings)
4 bottles of open pit bbq sauce
garlic and onion salt and freshly cracked pepper (to taste)

Steps:

  • 1. Season the ribs with garlic and onion salt and fresh cracked pepper.
  • 2. Broil ribs, turning once, until just browned on both sides.
  • 3. Place sliced onions in a layer on the bottom of the crock pot. Add broiled ribs and BBQ sauce. Cover and cook on low 10 hours.

  • In a small bowl, stir together brown sugar, chili powder, salt, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Set aside.
  • Prepare the ribs by removing the shiny, thin membrane that covers most of the backside of the ribs. To do so, use a knife or fingernail to pry up a corner of the thin membrane from one edge of the ribs. Grab that with a paper towel (for grip) and slowly pull it up. Once a good portion of the membrane is free, you should be able to pull the rest off in one quick motion.
  • Pat the ribs dry and rub the seasoning mixture onto both sides of the ribs. Place ribs in slow cooker.
