HOW TO LAY PAVERS ON DIRT IN 10 SIMPLE STEPS - OUTDOOR HAPPENS

From outdoorhappens.com
  • Make a Drawing. Use a pad and pen, along with your tape measure, to make a rudimentary drawing of the patio area, walkway, or other paved area you plan to dress with pavers.
  • Stake the Perimeter. Determine where the corners will be for the area that you will be paving, and then drive in wooden corner stakes to mark the outsides of the perimeter.
  • Dig Out the Space. Digging the space is going to be the most demanding step of the job. Use a spade shovel to clear out all dirt, rocks, roots, and anything else inside your perimeter.
  • Add a Layer of Gravel Base Material to the Soil Base. Once you have the entire area you will be paving dug to the proper depth, double-check the measurements to ensure they match the blueprint you drew earlier.
  • Add a 1-inch Layer of Polymeric Sand. After you have your gravel base layer graded out and packed down, it’s time to install a layer of paver sand on top of it.

HOW TO LAY PATIO PAVERS ON DIRT IN 8 EASY STEPS

From betterlandscaping.com
  • Identify and Measure the Site. Before installing the pavers, you must ensure that the ground is ready. Plot out the section you intend to install pavers on and outline it with the stakes using the measuring tape.
  • Excavate the Paving Area. Ensure that you remove any grass or weeds. Use a shovel to dig deep and get rid of the roots to avoid future growth. The excavated section should be deep enough to take in gravel, sand, and the pavers.
  • Level the Paver Base With Dirt. For your pavers to line up well, you should place them on a level surface (using a layer of sand). Also, make sure you get clean dirt from a reputable supplier to avoid topsoil.
  • Building the Paver Base. Fill the excavated section with about six inches of gravel. Next, spread the base material evenly across the paving area before wetting it using a garden hose.
  • Lay the Geotextile Fabric Over The Soil. The next crucial step is placing pieces of landscaping or geotextile fabric, mainly PVC. This is one step you cannot afford to skip!
