Lassi is a super refreshing, creamy and thick yogurt based drink from North Indian Cuisine. Refresh yourself anytime with this cool and creamy lassi, which is also a great way to get the power of yogurt throughout your busy day.

2 cups curd ((Plain yogurt))
½ to 1 cup water ((or 2 to 3 ice cubes + ¼ cup milk or cream adjust as needed))
3 to 4 tablespoon sugar ((or maple syrup, adjust to taste))
¼ to ½ teaspoon cardamom powder ((ground cardamoms, elaichi powder))
1 teaspoon rose water ((optional))
1 pinch saffron strands ((Kesar) optional)
1 tablespoon chopped nuts (for garnish, optional)
½ teaspoon roasted cumin powder ((roasted jeera powder))
¼ to ½ teaspoon salt ((use as needed))
2 pinches chaat masala ((for garnish, optional))
½ to ¾ cup mint or pudina ((use as needed))
½ teaspoon cumin powder (or roasted jeera powder)
⅛ teaspoon chaat masala ((optional))
2 tablespoon lemon juice ((use as needed))
1 tablespoon sugar ((optional))
¼ to ½ teaspoon salt ((or as needed))
¼ green chili deseeded ((optional))

Steps:

  • Chill the curd and water in the refrigerator. If you want to use saffron, soak it in 2 tbsps hot milk and let it rest for sometime.
  • Add curd to a large bowl. Whisk it well to break up lumps & make it smooth.

1 cup vanilla yogurt
¼ cup milk
2 cups pureed mango
3 tablespoons honey
1 (12.5 fl oz) can mango nectar
⅛ teaspoon ground cardamom

Steps:

  • Blend the lemon yogurt, vanilla yogurt, milk, pureed mango, honey, mango nectar, and cardamom together in a blender until completely combined. Serve immediately.

1/4 cup(s) fresh or frozen cherries (used rainier)
1/4 cup(s) fresh or frozen blackberries or marionberries
1/4 cup(s) fresh cranberries (always have a stash on hand in the freezer)
- local honey, to taste (wildflower this time around)
1/2 cup(s) plain yogurt (nanyc's brand & for me whole milk always)
1/2 cup(s) plain kefir (nancy's brand & not reduced fat for me)
1-2 tablespoon(s) ground hazelnuts/filberts
1/4 teaspoon(s) pure hazelnut extract (if you don't have hazelnuts)
1/2 cup(s) crushed ice

Steps:

  • Throw everything in a blender and blend to desired consistency. For a thinner smoothie add more crushed ice.
