KORVGRYTA (SAUSAGE CASSEROLE)

Very tasty for sausage and potato lovers. Comes from Sweden. I sometimes omit the apple slices, and add more potatoes.

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 lb pork sausage
2 apples, sliced
2 medium onions, sliced.
4 -5 medium potatoes, boiled and sliced,with or without jackets

Steps:

  • Crumble sausage into large heavy skillet and cook until lightly browned.
  • remove from the pan and keep warm.
  • Pour off all except 2 tablespoons of the pan drippings.
  • Cook the onions in the drippings until golden brown and transparent.
  • Add the apple slices and cook until tender.
  • In a buttered 2 quart casserole, arrange layers of potatoes, sausage, and onion-apple mixture.
  • Bake in a moderate 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or until thoroughly heated.

CRUNCHY SAUSAGE CASSEROLE

U don't have to follow this recipe exactly ... You can use any sausage and any soup that takes your fancy, add vegies, etc of your choice. I just like to keep it simple for my picky eaters though!

8 -10 sausages
4 medium potatoes, peeled, sliced
soup, 425g can
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
2 cups breadcrumbs
30 g butter, melted
1 cup grated cheese

Steps:

  • Pre heat oven to moderate 180 C.
  • Cook sausages unil done.
  • Arrange potato on bottom of casserole.
  • Place sausages over potatos.
  • Mix together soup, chilli powder and water and pur over sausages.
  • Cover and bake 1 hour.
  • For the topping combine all topping ingredients and place over the top of sausages and bake uncovered 10 mins or until golden and crunchy.

ITALIAN SAUSAGE AND POTATO CASSEROLE

Another one of my easy ones! But also another good one. If you leave out the potatoes, this is also very good served over egg noodles.

1 1/2 lbs Italian sausages, precooked
1 red bell pepper
1 green bell pepper
2 russet potatoes, precooked
1 onion, chopped
1 (28 ounce) can chopped tomatoes, undrained
1 teaspoon basil

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Grease large casserole.
  • Cut precooked sausages into 2" pieces, and both peppers into 1/4" slices.
  • Cut precooked potatoes into fourths, lengthwise, then into halves.
  • Combine sausage, peppers, potatoes, onion, undrained tomatoes,and basil into large bowl.
  • Mix very gently.
  • Spoon mixture into casserole.
  • Cover with foil with slit cut into center.
  • Bake until done, about 50 minutes.

1 lb pork sausage
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 cup chopped sweet red pepper
1/2 cup minced onion
3 cups cooked rice
2 cups chopped peeled tomatoes
10 ounces frozen corn
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon parsley
1 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1 1/2 cups soft breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons butter, melted

Steps:

  • Cook sausage until no longer pink; add green and red peppers and onion.
  • Cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add the next 9 ingredients; mix well.
  • Place in greased 3 qt casserole.
  • Mix crumbs and butter; sprinkle on top.
  • Bake at 350* for 40 minutes.
