My husband loves these beans-- he'll even cook them for a special occasion!! We do love anything that includes bacon.

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 1/2 lbs fresh green beans
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon pepper
5 -6 slices bacon, crisp and crumbled
3 tablespoons breadcrumbs
3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
1 1/2 tablespoons melted butter

Steps:

  • Snap beans to 1 inch pieces.
  • Put in boiling water and cook 5 minutes.
  • Cover, reduce heat and cook about 10-15 minutes until tender.
  • Drain and place in ungreased glass 9X9 casserole dish.
  • Mix oil, vinegar, onion, salt, garlic powder, and pepper; stir well.
  • Pour mixture over the beans.
  • Sprinkle with crumbled bacon and mix well.
  • Mix bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, and butter.
  • Sprinkle evenly over the top of the beans.
  • Bake uncovered in 350°F oven for 20-30 minutes until heated through.

1 1/2 lbs fresh green beans or 2 (16 ounce) cans French style green beans, drained
2 tablespoons salad oil
1/2 tablespoon white vinegar
1 tablespoon instant minced onion
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 clove garlic, minced
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons dry breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine, melted

Steps:

  • If using fresh beans, prepare and cook beans, cut into 1 inch pieces, until crisp tender.
  • Plunge quickly into icewater to stop cooking.
  • Drain.
  • Heat oven to 350 F.
  • Toss beans with salad oil, vinegar, onion, salt, garlic and pepper.
  • Pour into ungreased 1 qt casserole.
  • Stir together the bread crumbs, cheese and butter; sprinkle over the beans.
  • Bake uncovered about 30 minutes, or until heated through.

1/2 lb fresh green beans (or frozen)
2 tablespoons salad oil
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 tablespoon instant minced onion
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 clove garlic, crushed
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons dry breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon melted butter

Steps:

  • Prepare and cook green beans until tender (10-15 mins) If using frozen, follow cooking directions.
  • Toss green beans with all ingredients except bread crumbs, cheese and butter.
  • Put in 1 1/2 qt ungreased casserole dish.
  • Mix bread crumbs, butter and cheese.
  • Sprinkle over green bean mixture.
  • Sprinkle with paprika.
  • Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until heated through.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 pound dried cannellini beans
2 sprigs fresh sage
2 sprigs fresh rosemary
6 cloves garlic, skin-on, crushed
1 carrot
1 rib celery
1 onion, quartered
1 tablespoon coarse salt

Steps:

  • Rinse beans thoroughly and transfer to a large stockpot. Add enough cold water to cover by at least 2 inches. Let stand 6 to 12 hours (refrigerate if air is too warm).
  • Drain beans and return to stockpot with 16 cups water. Place sage, rosemary, and garlic in a 6-inch piece of cheesecloth; tie with kitchen twine to enclose and add to pot along with carrot, celery, and onion. Bring water to a low simmer over medium-low heat and cook for 30 minutes. Season with salt and continue cooking until tender, 15 minutes to 1 1/2 hours more.
  • Remove cheesecloth packet and vegetables, and drain.

  • Heat water to boiling in 2-quart saucepan. Add beans. Heat to boiling. Boil uncovered 5 minutes. Cover and boil 2 to 5 minutes longer or until crisp-tender; drain. Toss with dressing.
  • Place beans in serving bowl. Sprinkle with cranberries.
