CHEDDAR PAN BISCUITS

1/3 cup butter
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
4 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded (1 cup)
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F Melt butter in 8-inch square baking pan in oven (3 to 5 minutes).
  • Meanwhile, combine all remaining ingredients except milk in medium bowl.
  • Stir in milk just until moistened.
  • Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead until smooth (1 minute).
  • Pat or roll dough into 12x6-inch rectangle.
  • Cut into 12 (1-inch) strips.
  • Dip each strip into melted butter in pan; fold each strip in half.
  • Place folded strips in 2 rows in same pan.
  • Bake for 23 to 28 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • Serve warm.

These easy pan biscuits are made with Original Bisquick® mix, sour cream and herbs for delicious results - ready in just 30 minutes.

2 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
1/2 cup sour cream
6 tablespoons lemon-lime carbonated beverage
2 tablespoons chopped fresh Italian (flat-leaf) parsley
1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil leaves
1/4 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
3 tablespoons butter, melted

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 425°F. Spray 8-inch round cake pan with cooking spray.
  • In medium bowl, stir Bisquick mix, sour cream, carbonated beverage, parsley, basil and pepper with fork until soft dough forms.
  • With floured hands, divide dough into 20 equal portions. Shape each into a ball. Place in pan with sides touching. Brush evenly with half of the melted butter.
  • Bake 15 minutes or until golden brown. Brush evenly with remaining melted butter. Serve immediately.

2 1/4 cups flour
2 tablespoons dried parsley
3 tablespoons Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon dried onion
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon basil leaves
1 tablespoon sugar
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons vinegar
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon fennel
1/2 cup butter (melted)

Steps:

  • Mix dry ingredients until blended. Add milk, vinegar and 1/2 of the butter, stirring until moistened. Knead on floured surface until smooth. Shape into 12 inch round-flat, sheet. Cut dough with pizza cutter into strips then cut once through the middle to half strips. Dip each piece into remaining butter then place in the Dutch oven the way they were cut. Drizzle the left over butter on top. Place 15 to 20 hot charcoal coals on lid of Dutch oven. Turn the burner to low and cook for 8 to 12 minutes. Remove from burner and cook with just the coals on the top for another 10 to 15 minutes until done. Rotate lid while cooking and check often cooking time varies.

Steps:

  • Stir together first 3 ingredients; lightly flour hands, and divide dough into 20 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball, and place in a lightly greased 8-inch square baking pan. (Dough portions will touch.) Brush evenly with half of butter.
  • Bake at 425° for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Brush evenly with remaining half of butter. Serve immediately.
  • Note: For testing purposes only, we used Bisquick All-Purpose Baking Mix and Sprite (do not use diet).

1/8 teaspoon dried basil
1/16 teaspoon rubbed sage

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 450 degrees.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Cut in butter until crumbly. Add milk; stir just until moistened.
  • Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead 10 times.
  • Pat dough into 9" round shape.
  • In a small bowl stir together melted butter and seasonings.
  • Pour 1/2 butter mixture into 9" round cake pan.
  • Place dough in pan; pour remaining butter mixture over dough.
  • Bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until light golden brown.
  • Remove from pan; cut into 12 wedges. Serve warm.
