FROZEN BASIL LEMONADE

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
3 cups ice
3 cups lemon juice, fresh or frozen and thawed
10 to 12 fresh basil leaves

Steps:

To make the simple syrup, place the sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan set over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sugar dissolves, 2 to 3 minutes, then cool.
Pour the simple syrup in the pitcher of a blender with the ice, lemon juice and basil, and puree until smooth. Serve cold.

I tweaked this recipe it to make a refreshing drink. I love basil and this recipe has a wonderful basil-infused flavor. Delicious on a warm day or with grilled chicken. Serve over ice and garnish with fresh basil and lemon slices.

Ingredients

12 cups cold water
1 (12 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
⅓ cup white sugar
¼ cup fresh lime juice
½ cup firmly packed torn basil leaves

Steps:

Stir water, lemonade, sugar, and lime juice together in a pitcher. Add 1/2 cup basil leaves, stir to combine, cover the pitcher, and refrigerate until flavors combine, 8 hours to overnight. Remove basil leaves and discard.

12 ounce can thawed frozen pink lemonade concentrate
1/2 cup water
12 torn basil leaves
1 cup seltzer
2 or 4 tablespoons flavored syrup

Steps:

Combine one 12-ounce can thawed frozen pink lemonade concentrate, 1/2 cup water and 12 torn basil leaves in a medium skillet; cook over medium-high heat until syrupy, about 10 minutes. Stir in 8 more torn basil leaves; let cool, then strain. Add seltzer.
For each drink, combine 2 to 4 tablespoons flavored syrup with 1 cup cold seltzer in an ice-filled glass.
