NANNY'S NEVER FAIL PIE CRUST- 5 STAR FAMILY FAVORITE
This is one of the many recipes from my grandmothers cookbook. She passed away in May of 2005 and I am recording her wonderful recipes for my family and the many generations that will follow. Steps:
- Cut crisco and butter into the flour and salt. Beat egg, vinegar and water.
- Mix the egg mixture into the flour mixture.
- Knead together then roll out into 3 pie crusts.
- Nanny would put them into a pie dish and cover and freeze for up to a few weeks.
- For a baked crust bake the crust for about 15 minutes at 375° till golden.

- Mix the yeast, salt, sugar, and olive oil with the water in a 5 qt bowl, or a lidded (not airtight) food container.
- Mix in the flour without kneading, using a spoon, a 14 cup capacity food processor with dough attachment or a heavy duty stand mixer with a dough hook. If you’re not using a machine, you may need to use wet hands to incorporate the last bit of the flour.
- Cover (not airtight) and allow to rest at room temperature until dough rises and collapses (or flattens on top), approximately 2 hours.
