FESTIVE HAM 'N' CHEESE SPREAD



Festive Ham 'n' Cheese Spread image

"My family goes wild over this mild-tasting, hearty cheese spread," comments Cara Flora of Olathe, Colorado.

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons onion soup mix
1 cup chopped fully cooked ham
1 cup shredded Swiss or cheddar cheese
1/4 cup minced fresh parsley
Assorted crackers

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, sour cream and soup mix until blended. Stir in ham and cheese. , Form into a ball or spoon into a plastic wrap-lined mold. Roll in parsley. Refrigerate until serving. Serve with crackers.

A friend brought this to a house social I was having. I insisted she not leave without providing the recipe. She has since moved away and I am now asked to bring this to all parties or events that I attend. It is absolutely wonderful. Enjoy!!

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 (8 ounce) box Philadelphia Cream Cheese
3 tablespoons Hellmann's mayonnaise
1 teaspoon garlic powder (more or less to taste)
1/3 red pepper, finely diced
1/3 green pepper, finely diced
3 slices red onions, finely diced

Steps:

  • 1. Mix together cream cheese, mayonnaise and garlic powder until well blended.
  • 2. Add diced vegetables and mix well.
  • 3. Refrigerate for one hour to allow flavors to blend.
  • 4. Allow time for dip to soften before serving.
  • 5. Serve with ritz crackers or wheat thins.
  • 6. Enjoy.

Our state is known for its cranberries, and there are many bogs in our area. I won first place with this recipe in a contest sponsored by our local newspaper.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 package (12 ounces) fresh or frozen cranberries
1/2 cup apricot preserves
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/3 cup slivered almonds, toasted
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese
Assorted crackers

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, bring water and sugar to a boil without stirring; boil for 5 minutes. Add cranberries, cook until berries pop and sauce is thickened, about 10 minutes. Remove from the heat. , Cut apricots in the preserves into small pieces; add to cranberry mixture. Stir in lemon juice. Cool. Add almonds. , Spoon over cream cheese; serve with crackers. Store leftovers in the refrigerator.

This is a wonderful appetizer, a bean spread with a Mexican taste. It looks very festive with the red and green toppings, and it's easy to put together. Your guests will be asking for the recipe, so keep it handy ! The two cheeses can be substituted with one 3-cup package shredded taco cheese.

1 (16 ounce) can refried beans
1 cup salsa
1 teaspoon ground cumin
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 pint sour cream
1 (1.25 ounce) package taco seasoning mix
1 bunch green onions, chopped
2 tomatoes, chopped
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese

Steps:

  • First (bottom) layer: mix together beans, salsa, cumin, and garlic powder, and spread on large, flat serving dish as a thin layer, maybe 1/2 inch thick.
  • Second (middle) layer: mix together sour cream and taco seasoning, and spread over bean layer.
  • Third (top) layer: sprinkle the cheese on first, then top with chopped tomatoes and green onions.
  • Cover with plastic wrap, and chill for about an hour. Serve cold with tortilla chips.

The most delicious tasting spread! Sometimes I roll it into a log or ball with nuts, and other times I just put it in a crock. The ingredients sound strange but taste great together. I have been asked to make this for friends' parties and share the recipe. Easy, but fancy-looking, especially if you do the ball or log and arrange nice crackers or/and fruit around it. Great for parties or pot luck. I got this from Pampered Chef and altered a bit to my liking.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (8 ounce) package light cream cheese, softened
2 -4 ounces cheddar cheese, finely shredded (1/2-1 cup, to taste)
1/4 cup finely diced dried apricot
1/4 cup dried sweetened cranberries, chopped
2 -3 tablespoons scallions, very thinly sliced with some of the green
1/2 cup sliced almonds (only if you are going to roll it as a cheese ball or log)
cracker (or bagels for leftovers)

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, combine cheeses, apricots, cranberries, and scallions.
  • Mix well.
  • If making as a log or ball, shape cheese mixture using wax paper or parchment paper, and roll log/ball in almonds (on another sheet of wax/parchment paper) until completely coated.
  • Transfer to a pretty dish.
  • Serve with crackers.
  • Leftovers are also great on bagels!

1 (4 ounce) can chopped green chilies
2 tablespoons sliced green onions
1 tablespoon lime juice
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt

1/2 teaspoon chili powder
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
2 (12 ounce) packages crackers

Steps:

  • Combine first 7 ingredients.
  • Spread room temperature cream cheese in 2 separate pie plates.
  • Top cream cheese with cranberry mixture.
  • Serve with crackers.
