EASY CHEESY DROP DANISH

Love bakery-shop cream cheese Danish rolls? Now you can make them at home with an easy Bisquick® mix recipe.

1 package (3 oz) cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 tablespoon milk
2 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2/3 cup milk
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon warm water
1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 450°F. Lightly grease cookie sheet with shortening or cooking spray. In small bowl, mix filling ingredients until smooth; set aside.
  • In medium bowl, stir Bisquick mix, butter and 2 tablespoons granulated sugar until crumbly. Stir in 2/3 cup milk until dough forms; beat with spoon 15 strokes.
  • On cookie sheet, drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart. Make a shallow well in center of each with back of spoon; fill each with about 1 teaspoon filling.
  • Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Meanwhile, mix glaze ingredients until smooth and thin enough to drizzle. Drizzle glaze over warm Danish. Store covered in refrigerator.

1 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 tablespoons water
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup water
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 to 2 tablespoons warm water or milk
Chopped nuts

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Place 1 cup flour in medium bowl. Cut in 1/2 cup softened butter, using pastry blender (or pulling 2 table knives through ingredients in opposite directions), until particles are size of coarse crumbs. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons water over mixture; toss with fork.
  • Gather pastry into a ball; divide in half. Pat each half into 12x3-inch rectangle, about 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • In 2-quart saucepan, heat 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup water to rolling boil; remove from heat. Quickly stir in almond extract and 1 cup flour. Stir vigorously over low heat about 1 minute or until mixture forms a ball; remove from heat. Add eggs; beat until smooth. Spread half of the topping over each rectangle.
  • Bake about 1 hour or until topping is crisp and brown; remove from pan to cooling rack. Cool completely.
  • In medium bowl, mix all glaze ingredients except nuts until smooth and spreadable. Spread over top of pastry; sprinkle with nuts.

2 cups Bisquick
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
2 tablespoons butter, softened
3/4 cup milk
1 egg
1/4 cup melted butter (half stick butter)
1/3 cup sugar, mixed with
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (you can increase cinnamon if you like.)

Steps:

  • Stir together muffin batter ingredients for 30 seconds.
  • Bake at 400 degrees in greased mini-muffin tin for 10-12 minutes.
  • Cool slightly and roll tops of muffins in melted butter, then cinnamon sugar mixture.
  • Makes 24 mini muffins.

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
1 to 2 tablespoons ice water
TOPPING:
1/2 cup butter, cubed
1 cup water
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
ICING:
1-1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons butter, softened
2 tablespoons water
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup sliced almonds, toasted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Place flour in a bowl; cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle with water; toss with a fork until dough holds together when pressed. Divide dough in half. On greased baking sheets, press each portion into 12x3-in. rectangle., For topping, in a saucepan, heat butter and water to a rolling boil. Add flour and salt all at once and beat until blended. Cook over low heat, stirring vigorously until mixture pulls away from sides of pan and forms a ball. Remove from heat; let stand 5 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition until smooth. Add extract; continue beating until mixture is smooth and shiny. Spread half of the mixture over each rectangle., Bake until puffed and golden brown, about 1 hour. Cool on pans 10 minutes., Mix first four icing ingredients until smooth; spread over warm pastries. Sprinkle with almonds.

2 cups Bisquick baking mix
2/3 cup milk
1/4 cup any flavor preserves (I like raspberry)
2/3 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon warm water
1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Mix margarine, sugar and Bisquick until crumbly.
  • Stir in milk until dough forms; beat 15 strokes.
  • Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2" apart onto a lightly greased cookie sheet.
  • Make a shallow well in center of each with the back of a spoon.
  • Fill the well with 1 teaspon preserves.
  • Bake at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden.
  • While warm drizzle with glaze.
  • Glaze: Beat together all ingredients until smooth.

Alright, you caught me.... I hate using store bought mixes but I had some Bisquick in my pantry and needed a treat real fast one night when I ran out of flour so this is what I came up with!

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/4 cup butter, softened
5 tablespoons sugar
2 1/4 cups Bisquick
1/3 cup vanilla coffee creamer
1/3 cup half-and-half (or 2/3 cup milk for healthier)
1/4 cup fruit preserves
2/3 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons vanilla coffee creamer (or milk)
1/2 tablespoon corn syrup

Steps:

  • Stir butter, sugar and bisquick together until crumbly.
  • Gently add in coffee creamer and half and half or milk until dough just starts to form.
  • Drop about a heaping tablespoonsful dough onto a greased baking sheet.
  • Make an indent into each Danish.
  • Fill indent with a small amount of preserves.
  • Bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes, or until just starting to turn golden.
  • While they are baking make the glaze by combining the powdered sugar, coffee creamer or milk, and corn syrup.
  • Drizzle glaze over warm danishes.

A great recipe, for a flaky almond flavored breakfast treat or a snack with that afternoon tea.

2 Tbsp soft butter
1 c bisquick mix
3 Tbsp granulated sugar
2 Tbsp water
------
3/4 c water
1/4 c margarine
1 tsp almond extract
1 c bisquick mix
3 large eggs
GLAZE:
1 1/2 c powdered sugar
2 Tbsp soft margarine
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 to 2 Tbsp warm water

Steps:

  • 1. Combine the first 3 ingredients, cutting in the butter. Sprinkle the water over the mixture; mix until pastry cleans side of bowl;adding a little more Bisquick if needed. Divide into halves. Pat each half into strip, 10x3-inches, on ungreased cookie sheet(keep the strips at least 3 inches apart). Heat 3/4 cup water and 1/4 c. margarine to rolling boil in 3-quart saucepan. Add almond extract and 1 cup baking mix all at once ;Stir vigorously over low heat until mixture forms a ball, about 1 1/2 minutes. Remove from heat. Beat in eggs, one at a time; continue beating until smooth. Heat oven to 350^. Spread half of the dough on each pastry strip. Bake until topping is crisp and golden brown, 45 minutes. Cool slightly; spread with glaze and sprinkle with sliced almonds or pecans. --- Glaze: Mix all ingredients together until smooth and of desired consistency.
  • 2. Note: Before spreading the dough over each pastry strip , spread a little jam on then the dough; or a little mixture of softened cream cheese and powdered sugar.; or your favorite prepared pie filling -I like to use cherry pie filling and a little cream cheese mixture.
