This colorful tea with its sweet spicy flavor is a great winter warmer-upper. The aroma is sure to bring guests to the table! -Kathy Traetow, Waverly, Iowa

Yield 18 cups (1-1/2 quarts concentrate).

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 bottle (32 ounces) cranberry juice
2 cups sugar
1 can (6 ounces) frozen orange juice concentrate
3/4 cup thawed lemonade concentrate
1/3 cup red-hot candies
1 cinnamon stick
2 whole cloves

Steps:

  • In a 3-qt. saucepan, combine all ingredients; bring to a boil over medium heat. Boil for 7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove cinnamon and cloves. , To serve, mix 1 cup concentrate and 2 cups water; heat through. Store concentrate in a covered container in the refrigerator.

1-1/4 cups butter, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
2/3 cup sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
3-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup chopped walnuts
2 cups chopped fresh or frozen cranberries

Steps:

  • In a bowl, cream butter and sugars, 5-7 minutes. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in extracts. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Stir in walnuts. Carefully stir in cranberries. Shape into three 7-in. rolls; wrap each roll in waxed paper and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight. , Unwrap dough and cut into 1/4-in. slices. Place 1 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375° for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire racks.

3/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2-1/2 cups self-rising flour
Confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325°. In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Gradually add flour. Roll dough into 1-in. balls. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets; flatten slightly with fingers. , Bake until edges are golden brown, 17-20 minutes. Cool for 2 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely. Dust with confectioners' sugar.

1/2 cup sweetened dried cranberries
1 teaspoon Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
3/4 cup margarine or butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons sour cream
1 tablespoon grated orange peel
1/2 teaspoon orange extract
2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup powdered sugar

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 325° F. In small bowl, toss cranberries and 1 teaspoon flour; set aside.
  • In large bowl, beat margarine and granulated sugar with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon, until well blended. Beat in egg, sour cream, orange peel and orange extract until smooth.
  • Beat in 2 cups flour, the baking soda and salt on low speed until well blended. Stir in cranberry mixture. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until bottoms are light golden. Immediately remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack. Sprinkle tops with powdered sugar. Cool completely, about 15 minutes.

1 (12 ounce) package cranberries
2 cups white sugar
2 oranges, juiced
2 lemons, juiced
12 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks

Steps:

  • In a large pot, combine water and cranberries. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 30 minutes. Add sugar, orange juice, lemon juice, cloves and cinnamon sticks. Cover, and steep for 1 hour.
