SLOW COOKER COCA COLA CHICKEN



Slow Cooker Coca Cola Chicken image

Turn boring chicken breasts into a sweet and tangy dish with less than 5 minutes of prep. Easy slow cooker chicken recipe is full of delicious barbecue flavor.

6 chicken breasts (boneless and skinless (fresh or frozen))
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoons onion flakes (minced)
½ teaspoon garlic salt
1 ½ cup barbecue sauce (divided)
12 ounces Coca-Cola (divided)

Steps:

  • Spread the chicken breasts in the bottom of a 6-quart crockpot.
  • Sprinkle the pepper, minced onion flakes, and garlic salt over the chicken. Pour ½ cup of the barbecue sauce over the chicken.
  • Pour 1 cup Coca-Cola into the slow cooker.
  • Cover and set on a high setting for 4 hours or low for 6 to 7 hours.
  • After the chicken has cooked for about 3 hours on high (or 5 hours on low), drain all liquid from the slow cooker, leaving the chicken in the pot. Add the remaining ½ cup of Coca-Cola and the remaining 1 cup of barbecue sauce to the slow cooker. Continue cooking for the remaining hour.
  • Serve whole with sauce spooned over the top or shred chicken and mix with excess sauce.

I've seen lots of recipes here for cola chicken and all of them sound so yummy. So I thought I'd post my own recipe for Coca Cola Chicken (or Ribs) and see what y'all think. This would be yummy over a ham too.

1 c brown sugar
1 can(s) coca-cola (not diet)
2 medium onions chopped
2 clove garlic minced
2 Tbsp soy sauce or you can use 2 t. teriyaki sauce
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 Tbsp corn starch
1 c cold water
2-3 lb chicken wings, chicken breasts, or ribs

Steps:

  • 1. In 9x13 cassarole dish combine brown sugar, cola, onions, garlic, soy sauce, salt and pepper. Stir and mix well.
  • 2. mix together the corn starch and water making sure you mix it well. Slowly pour into cassarole dish while stirring. Place chicken wings or ribs in sauce mixture.
  • 3. Bake at 350 degrees for 2 hours. Sauce will thicken as it cooks. Delicious served with rice or noodles.

2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3 tablespoons liquid smoke, optional
4 pounds pork spareribs, cut into serving-size pieces
1 medium onion, sliced
1/2 cup cola
1-1/2 cups barbecue sauce

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, garlic, salt, pepper and, if desired, liquid smoke; rub over ribs., Layer ribs and onion in a greased 5- or 6-qt. slow cooker; pour cola over ribs. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until ribs are tender. Drain liquid. Pour sauce over ribs and cook 1 hour longer.

This is a peppery Southwestern-inspired spice rub and with a sweet and tangy glaze. Recipe is from Woman's World.

2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon ground chipotle chile pepper or 1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
6 lbs pork spareribs (about 2 slabs)
4 tablespoons lime juice
3 cups cola
1 cup ketchup
1/2 teaspoon grated lime zest
cilantro, chopped (optional)
lime wedge (optional)

Steps:

  • Prepare grill for indirect-heat cooking.
  • Combine cumin, salt, chile pepper and onion powder.
  • Rub ribs with 2 T lime juice.
  • Reserve 1 t spice mixture; sprinkle remaining mixture over ribs.
  • Place ribs, meaty side down, on grill over indirect heat.
  • Cover, cook 15 minutes.
  • Turn ribs, cover and cook until tender, about 2 hours.
  • Meanwhile, in pot, combine soda, ketchup, zest, remaining 2 T lime juice and reserved 1 t spice mixture.
  • Over medium-high heat, bring mixture to boil.
  • Stir; over low heat, cook, stirring occasionally, until reduced to about 1 cup, about 40 minutes.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Brush ribs with half of soda mixture; cook 15 minutes.
  • Turn ribs, brush with remaining mixture.
  • Cook until very tender, about 15 minutes.
  • Let ribs stand 10 minutes before serving.
  • If desired, sprinkle with cilantro and serve with lime wedges.

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 cup ketchup
1 cup cola-flavored carbonated beverage

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

1 (12 ounce) can Coca-Cola
1/4 cup dry sherry or 1/4 cup chinese rice wine
2 medium onions, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 scallions, chopped finely
2 tablespoons soy sauce
salt & freshly ground black pepper, to taste
2 1/2 lbs chicken wings (if previously frozen, allow to thaw overnight in refrigerator) or 2 1/2 lbs ribs (if previously frozen, allow to thaw overnight in refrigerator)

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients except chicken or ribs in a large bowl.
  • Mix in the chicken or ribs and coat with marinade. Refrigerate for 6-8 hours or overnight.
  • When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Lay out the chicken or ribs on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray.
  • Bake for 2 hours. Serve immediately.
