Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 6

6 apples
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/3 cup chopped pecans
3 tablespoons butter
2 cups water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Starting from the apple stem, use a paring knife to remove cores from each apple, leaving the bottom of the apple intact to create a hollow bowl-like interior. Place each prepared apple into a 9x13 baking dish.
  • In a small bowl, stir together brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped pecans. Spoon into the center of each apple to fill to top.
  • Place 1/2 tablespoon of butter on top of each apple center. Pour water into the bottom of the baking dish so that the apples sit in the water and steam.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until apples are soft. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

OLD FASHIONED BAKED APPLES

Old Fashioned Baked Apples image

I think everyone grew up eating this dessert. This is great with a couple of scoops of vanilla ice cream on the side. Pour the sauce over the ice cream too, it tastes great! You can peel the center portion of the apple skin off if you wish, as it will help the apples cook. Note: I have tried all sorts of apples with this...

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 large baking apples, i used jonagold
1/4 c brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 c chopped pecans
1/4 c currants
1 Tbsp butter
1/2 c concentrated apple juice
1/2 c water

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat your oven to 375'F.
  • 2. Wash and core the apples. Cut a little slice off the bottom to make the apples sit straight up in the pan. Hollow out the apple removing all the seeds and core. Try not go right through the apple, it's good to save a little on the bottom to hold the ingredients. If you cut through don't worry, you can always add some sauce on it afterward.
  • 3. Mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, currants and pecans in a small bowl. Stuff each apple well with the mixture.
  • 4. Place in a baking pan big enough to hold the apples. Put the apple juice and water in a small sauce pan and bring to a bowl. Then pour the apple water liquid into the bottom of the pan. Top each apple with a quarter of the tbsp. of butter.
  • 5. Bake for 30-40 minutes. Baste the apples with the pan juices several times over the course of them cooking.
  • 6. Serve with some ice cream on the side. Use the basting liquid on the ice cream too, it's so good.
  • 7. Enjoy!
