This classic confection, traditionally made to resemble the nut of the buckeye tree, is reimagined as an acorn.

Ingredients

3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups confectioners' sugar
6 ounces good-quality semisweet chocolate
36 branch-shaped pieces from mini pretzels

Steps:

Stir together peanut butter and butter in a bowl with a wooden spoon. Add sugar; work into a smooth dough with your hands. Refrigerate 30 minutes.
Using the palms of your hands, roll dough into 1 1/2-inch oblong "acorns" (you should have 36), flatten 1 end of each a bit with your fingertip, and place on a waxed paper-lined rimmed baking sheet. Refrigerate 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, melt chocolate in a bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water. Working with 1 acorn at a time, insert a toothpick into rounded tip, dip flat end into chocolate, then return to baking sheet. Remove toothpick, and insert a pretzel piece into the chocolate-dipped end of each acorn. Refrigerate until chocolate is set, about 2 hours.

1/2 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
48 milk chocolate kisses
48 Nutter Butter Bites

Steps:

Reserve 48 chocolate chips. In a microwave, melt remaining chocolate chips; stir until smooth. Spread the flat side of each kiss with a small amount of melted chocolate; immediately attach each to a cookie., Secure one reserved chocolate chip as a stem onto each acorn. Place on waxed or parchment-lined baking sheets; let stand until set. Store in an airtight container.

We can't decide whether the chocolate chips, toasted walnuts or Reese's Pieces™ are our favorite, but thankfully we don't have to! These easy-to-bake cookies use two different pouches of Betty Crocker™ cookie mix, which gives them a delicious flavor but keeps the recipe simple and easy-to-make. We suggest doubling this recipe because these fan-favorite peanut butter oatmeal cookies tend to go quick!

1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ oatmeal chocolate chip cookie mix
1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ peanut butter cookie mix
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 eggs
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1 cup Reese's Pieces™ peanut butter candy in a crunchy shell
1/2 cup chopped walnuts, toasted if desired

Steps:

Heat oven to 350°F. In large bowl stir cookie mixes, butter and eggs until soft dough forms. Stir in chocolate chips, peanut butter pieces and walnuts.
On large ungreased cookie sheets, drop dough by scant 1/4 cupfuls about 2-inches apart. Bake 13 to 16 minutes or until light golden brown.
Cool 1 to 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheets to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
