Categories     dessert

Time 55m

Yield 8 to 10 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 bags chocolate chips (dark or milk chocolate)
1 bag pretzels (logs work well for this, but you can try any of the medium to thick variety of twists)
Chopped nuts, for garnish, optional
Colored nonpareils, for garnish, optional
Sprinkles, for garnish, optional
Coconut, for garnish, optional
Crushed cookies, for garnish, optional

Steps:

  • Melt chocolate in double boiler over medium heat on stove top. Using tongs, or your fingers, quickly dip pretzels in chocolate allowing the excess to run off. Place dipped pretzels on waxed paper lined cookie sheets. Sprinkle with chopped nuts, colored sugars or other toppings. Allow to harden. You may need to refrigerate for a while to help this along. Once hardened, remove from sheets and store in a cool location, with waxed paper between layers.
  • Tip: Package pretzels in clear cellophane bags or in vase for festive gift giving!

MY CLASSIC CHOCOLATE COVERED PRETZELS

My Classic Chocolate Covered Pretzels image

Chocolate covered pretzels are so simple to make, yet always a crowd-pleaser!

Provided by Sally

Categories     Dessert

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 3

two 4-ounce quality semi-sweet chocolate bars (113g each), finely chopped*
1 bag honey wheat pretzels (or 4 cups pretzel shapes of choice)
sprinkles

Steps:

  • Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • In a microwave safe bowl, break up the chocolate bars into small pieces so they melt easily. Microwave on high for 30 seconds. Remove and stir for about a minute. The chocolate will continue to melt as you stir. If needed, microwave in 10 second increments until all is melted and smooth.
  • Take a pretzel and dip into chocolate, using a spoon to evenly cover 1/2 of the pretzel. Shake the pretzel a bit to remove any excess chocolate. Immediately cover the chocolate with sprinkles before the chocolate hardens. I usually do this over a paper plate, to catch the sprinkles that miss the pretzel.
  • Place each pretzel on parchment paper lined baking sheet and refrigerate for about 10 minutes for the chocolate to harden. Once chocolate is set, cover tightly and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

CHOCOLATE-CARAMEL-PECAN PRETZEL BITES

Chocolate-Caramel-Pecan Pretzel Bites image

Provided by Ree Drummond : Food Network

Categories     dessert

Time 1h45m

Yield 24 pretzel turtles

Number Of Ingredients 4

24 pecan halves
24 mini pretzel twists
24 individually wrapped soft caramel squares
8 ounces good-quality milk chocolate, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
  • Put the pecan halves on a baking sheet in a single layer and bake, shaking the sheet once halfway through, until lightly toasted, 5 to 6 minutes. Transfer the nuts to a plate to cool.
  • Line the baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Arrange the pretzels neatly on the baking sheet, then top each pretzel with an unwrapped caramel. Bake until the caramels soften (but are definitely not melting), 4 to 5 minutes. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and gently press a pecan half onto each caramel, just enough for the caramel to fill the pretzel. Set aside to cool completely.
  • Remove the cooled pretzel/caramels from the baking sheet. Spoon 24 small dollops (1 1/2-teaspoon helpings) of the melted chocolate all over the baking sheet, then lightly drop a pretzel onto the middle of each dollop, making sure the pretzel is centered. Allow them to cool completely before serving (you can hasten this along in the fridge).
