This is the recipe my daughters and I often make for new parents when they come home from the hospital. With its creamy spaghetti filling and melted cheese topping, this casserole holds a nice cut and comforts hungry tummies. -Fancheon Resler, Bluffton, Indiana

Number Of Ingredients 15

1 package (16 ounces) spaghetti, broken
2 medium onions, chopped
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1 medium sweet red pepper, chopped
1/2 cup butter, cubed
6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups 2% milk
4 cups cubed cooked chicken
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of chicken and mushroom soup, undiluted
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1 cup sour cream
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Cook spaghetti according to package directions. , Meanwhile, in a Dutch oven, saute onions and peppers in butter until tender. Stir in flour until blended; gradually add milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir 2 minutes or until thickened. Stir in chicken, soups, sour cream, celery salt and pepper., Drain spaghetti; add to sauce mixture and toss to coat. Transfer to 2 greased 11x7-in. baking dishes. Sprinkle with cheeses. Cover and bake 20 minutes. Uncover and bake 5-10 minutes longer or until bubbly. Freeze option: Cover and freeze unbaked casseroles up to 3 months. To use, partially thaw in refrigerator overnight. Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Preheat oven to 350°. Cover casserole with foil; bake as directed, increasing covered time to 40 minutes or until heated through and a thermometer inserted in center reads 165°. Uncover; bake 5-10 minutes longer or until bubbly.

2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup butter, cubed
6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups 2% milk
4 cups cubed cooked chicken
1 can cream of chicken soup, undiluted
1 can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1 cup sour cream
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

4 cups uncooked egg noodles
1/2 cup butter, divided
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon white pepper
3-1/2 cups 2% milk
4 cups cubed cooked chicken
2 jars (12 ounces each) chicken gravy
1 jar (2 ounces) diced pimientos, drained
1/2 cup cubed process cheese (Velveeta)
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
4 teaspoons butter, melted

Steps:

  • Cook noodles according to package directions. , Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350°. In a Dutch oven, melt 6 tablespoons butter. Stir in flour, salt and pepper until smooth. Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir 1-2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat. Stir in chicken, gravy and pimientos., Drain noodles; toss with remaining butter. Stir into chicken mixture. Transfer to a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. , Cover and bake 30-35 minutes or until bubbly. Combine cheese, bread crumbs and melted butter. Sprinkle around edges of casserole. Bake, uncovered, 10 minutes longer or until golden brown. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

2 c uncooked egg noodles
3 Tbsp butter
1 celery stalk (chopped)
1/4 c onion (chopped)
2 can(s) cream of chicken soup
2 c milk
2 c cheddar cheese (shredded) i used triple cheddar mix
2 c peas (frozen, thawed)
3 c chicken (cooked, cubed)
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 c dry bread crumbs (buttered)
2-3 Tbsp butter

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x13 inch pan or casserole dish with vegetable spray. Cook noodles in boiling water until just done (al dente), and drain.
  • 2. Melt 3 tablespoons butter in large fry pan and cook celery and onion until very tender. Stire in soup, milk, and cheese until cheese melts.
  • 3. Add the noodles, peas, chicken and salt and pepper to the cheese sauce mixture. Spread mixture into the baking dish. (if you don't have a large enough pan, just combine everything in a large bowl, prior to spreading in baking dish)
  • 4. Melt 2-3 Tablespoons butter in pan and add bread crumbs. Toss to brown evenly. Remove from pan and sprinkle buttery crumbs evenly over mixture in casserole pan.
  • 5. Bake for 30 minutes,

1/2 lb cooked chicken, cut into 1/2 inch pieces (about 1 1/2 cups)
1 1/2 cups fresh broccoli florets (tiny) or 3/4 cup frozen peas
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400 degrees.
  • In microwave-safe bowl, stir together water, milk, butter, bouillon, and parsley. Microwave at high 4 minutes or until butter melts.
