CRISPY CAJUN OVEN BAKED FRIES



Crispy Cajun Oven Baked Fries image

Homemade natural cut fries, seasoned with a cajun spice blend and baked to a crisp perfection in the oven. They are so good and healthier than fast food fries!

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 12

3 large russet potatoes
4 Tablespoons canola or olive oil (divided)
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon cayenne
1/2 teaspoon paprika
dash of turmeric
onion powder (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 475
  • Wash potatoes
  • Slice potatoes into strips.
  • Cover with hot water and let sit for 20 minutes.
  • Prepare the cajun blend by combining all spices in a bowl, set aside.
  • Drain potatoes and dry them off thoroughly.
  • Brush a baking pan with 3 tablespoons of oil and sprinkle pan with 1/3 of the cajun seasoning.
  • Toss the potatoes with 1 tablespoon of oil and sprinkle lightly with seasoning.
  • Place the potatoes on the pan in a single layer.
  • Cover with foil and bake 5 minutes.
  • Remove foil and continue baking for another 15-20 minutes until golden brown on the bottom.
  • Flip potatoes and continue baking until crisp and golden, about 10-15 minutes. Keep an eye on them.
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle with the rest of the cajun seasoning.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Serve hot.

Olive oil 1/4 cup
Garlic powder 1 tsp
Onion powder 1 tsp
Chili powder 1 tsp
Cajun seasoning 1 tsp
Sea salt 1 tsp
Potatoes 6

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 °F and set a baking tray to one side.
  • In a large resealable bag or plastic bag, mix the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, Cajun seasoning, and sea salt.
  • Place the in the bag and shake well to coat fully with the seasoning.
  • Arrange the potato fires on the baking tray. Spread the out so that they form one layer.
  • Bake in the oven for about 35 minutes.
  • Shake the potato fires - if any have stuck to the baking tray, loosen them with a spatula. Continue cooking for about 10 more minutes until the fries are crispy on the outside.
  • Serve it hot.

½ medium red bell pepper, diced

6 Yukon Gold potatoes, cut into thick fries
1 tablespoon white sugar
¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder, or more to taste
1 teaspoon salt, or more to taste
1 teaspoon ground black pepper, or more to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil; spray with cooking spray.
