Comic strip characters Maggie and Jiggs inspired me to serve this meal. Whenever Maggie asked Jiggs what he would like her to cook, he answered, "Corned beef and cabbage." - In a large Dutch oven or saucepan, combine cabbage, onion and water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until the cabbage is tender. Add remaining ingredients; simmer for 5 minutes.

- Cook cabbage in boiling water until tender; drain thoroughly. In a large skillet, saute onion in 5 tablespoons butter until tender. Stir in soup. Add cheese; stir until melted. - Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Mix cabbage, Cheddar cheese, onion, cream of celery soup, and butter in a large bowl. Mixture will be dry. Transfer to a large baking dish, spreading vegetables evenly; sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Cover baking dish with aluminum foil.
- Baked in preheated oven for 45 minutes and remove foil. Continue baking until bubbly and lightly browned, about 15 minutes more.

- 1. Cook cornbread and set aside. Cut cabbage in bite size pieces, boil in salty water,for 5 minutes. While cooking cabbage, chop onion. Drain cabbage. Mix onion, soup and cheese over cabbage while still hot. Place in buttered baking dish. Pour melted margarine over cornbread crumbs and spread over cabbage. Bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
