OLD-FASHIONED BUTTERMILK PIE

1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups white sugar
3 teaspoons all-purpose flour
3 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Beat the butter and sugar together in a large bowl until smooth.
  • Mix in the flour, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla.
  • Pour the filling into the pie shell then sprinkle the top with nutmeg.
  • Bake for 1 hour, or until golden brown and firm (insert a toothpick into the middle, it should come out clean).
  • Let cool completely before slicing.
  • Serve with whipped cream or fresh berries, and enjoy!

½ cup butter, softened
1 ½ cups white sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon lemon juice
⅛ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees (175 degrees C).
  • Beat eggs until frothy; add butter, sugar and flour. Beat until smooth.
  • Stir in buttermilk, vanilla, lemon juice and nutmeg; pour into pie shell.
  • Bake for 40 to 60 minutes, or until center is firm.

I'm not sure where I found this recipe but I have tried several different recipes for buttermilk pie and this is the best. It has that Hard crunchy top on it and the flavor is full and rich and out of this world.

1 9-inch unbaked pie shell
1 1/2 c sugar
8 Tbsp buter, melted
1 Tbsp lemon juice
2 large eggs
3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
1 c buttermilk
2 tsp vanilla extract

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350*F.
  • 2. Beat the eggs until well mixed, about 1 minute.
  • 3. Add the sugar and flour and beat at medium speed until well combined.
  • 4. Add butter and buttermilk to sugar mixture and mix on high for 2 minutes.
  • 5. Add lemon juice and vanilla and beat until mixed.
  • 6. Pour mixture into pie crust. Bake until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 55 minutes to 1 hour.

1 unbaked pastry shell

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Combine sugar and flour; mixing well.
  • Add eggs, butter and buttermilk; beating well. Stir in flavoring. Pour into pastry shell.
  • Bake at 400°F for 10 minutes. Reduce heat and bake at 325°F for 65 minutes.
