Number Of Ingredients 4

1 can (20 ounces) crushed pineapple
1 package (6 ounces) orange gelatin
2 cups buttermilk
1 carton (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, bring pineapple with juice to a boil. Stir in the gelatin until dissolved. Remove from the heat; stir in buttermilk. Cool to room temperature. Fold in whipped topping. Pour into an 11x7-in. dish or 2-qt. bowl. Chill for at least 4 hours.

This is a very old, much used family recipe. It makes such a pretty presentation.

1 can(s) crushed pineapple (the large can)
1 small box(es) strawberry jello
2 cup(s) buttermilk
1 cup(s) chopped pecans
8 ounce(s) tub of cool whip

Steps:

  • Drain about 3/4 of the liquid from the pineapple.
  • Pour the pineapple and the rest of the liquid into a small pot and warm.
  • Mix the jello and the pineapple w/ liquid.
  • Next stir in the buttermilk.
  • Refrigerate until thick. **This will take a while. I usually let it sit overnight.**
  • Gently mix in the cool whip and pecans into the buttermilk mixture and place into your serving bowl. It's ready to serve!

1 can (20 ounces) unsweetened crushed pineapple, undrained
3 tablespoons sugar
1 package (6 ounces) orange gelatin
2 cups buttermilk
1 carton (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 cup chopped nuts

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, combine pineapple and sugar; bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. When mixture boils, immediately add gelatin and stir until dissolved. Cool slightly. Stir in buttermilk. Chill until partially set. Fold in whipped topping and nuts. If necessary, chill until mixture mounds slightly. Pour into a lightly oiled 8-1/2-cup mold. Chill overnight.

This is a favorite from my childhood. I always use orange jello, cause it's the way mom made it. But you could easily substitute other flavors. Very low fat if you use fat free coolwhip. Keeps well for days, and is great to bring for potlucks. Can be made in a pretty jello mold or just in a bowl and scooped with a spoon.

6 ounces orange gelatin
8 ounces crushed pineapple
10 ounces canned mandarin oranges, drained
8 ounces Cool Whip
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
2 cups buttermilk

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, mix the jello powder with the pineapple and the pineapple juice from the can the juice, add the drained oranges.Heat over medium high heat. When it just comes to a boil remove from the heat and allow to cool 30 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, mix the jello mixture with the buttermilk until well incorporated. Fold in the cool whip and pecans. Pour into a jello mold or just a regular glass or tupperware bowl. Chill at least 2 hours or overnight.
  • When ready to serve, unmold onto a plate, or just scoop from the bowl.

Steps:

  • Mix the Jello powder with the crushed pineapple and it's juice in a small saucepan.
  • Drain the juice from the oranges, and add to the saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil and remove from the heat to cool.
  • Once cooled, put in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add the buttermilk and mix well.
  • Fold in the cool whip and pecans.
  • Pour into a Jello mold, or bowl.
  • Chill in the refrigerator at least 3 hours, or until set.

This is a great recipe for dessert or a side-dish. My husband just loves the tangy-sweet taste! I love the fluffy texture. Everytime DH eats this he says it reminds him of the time he spent in Georgia when he was in the Army!

2 box (3 oz each) strawberry jello
1 can(s) (20 oz) crushed pineapple, undrained
2 c buttermilk
1 pkg (8 oz) cool whip, defrosted

Steps:

  • 1. In a small saucepan bring the pineapple to a boil and pour into a large heat proof mixing bowl.
  • 2. Add the 2 packages of strawberry jello and mix until the jello is completely dissolved.
  • 3. Add the 2 cups of buttermilk and mix well. Allow this mixture to cool on the counter for about 20 minutes.
  • 4. After the jello mixture has cooled carefully add the Cool Whip until well mixed. I use a whisk for this step.
  • 5. Pour the mixture into a 2 quart baking dish and chill until set.
  • 6. Serve cold as a side-dish or dessert. This has a nice tangy taste and goes well food.
