Copycat Burger King Whopper image

You can make your own homemade copycat Burger King Whopper at home.

1 pound ground chuck
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 sesame hamburger buns
12 pickle slices
4 tablespoons ketchup
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
1/2 sliced white onion

Steps:

  • Season ground beef with salt and pepper and form into patties. Butter hamburger buns in and toast in a skillet until lightly browned, and set aside. Heat a grill to medium-high heat. Cook the burger for two to three minutes each side, while cooking add a dash of salt to the burger.
  • Build the burger by placing the meat on the bottom bun, then add 3 or 4 dill pickle slices, 3 or 4 onion ring slices, 2 to 3 tomato slices. Then squirt a small amount of ketchup onto the burger, add lettuce, and then spread mayonnaise onto the top bun, and place the top bun onto the burger.

This is a technique I have used quite a few times now, results are always the same: Mega delicious burger.

your favorite seasons (opt), favorite cheese, topping and bun

Steps:

  • 1. Make your patties as thin as possible without them falling apart, I use a piece of foil, lay my patty on it and flatten it with my fingers or a rolling pin or the bottom of a pan.
  • 2. Use a med-high flame on your grill, let the grill get good and hot with the lid closed. Put your patties on, close the lid, after about 7ish minutes, flip your patty, cook another 7ish minutes. The fat from the chuck drips onto the fire making it flame up and cook. That's where all the flavor comes from. I never even season my patties anymore, just put them on plain. My family as well as myself are asthonished everytime I make these, taste just like BK.

  • More and Better Pickles. I like that Burger King is relatively generous with their pickles. A full four to five slices adorned every Whopper I ordered during my research, more than twice as many as the paltry two pickles McDonald's offers you on their sandwiches.
  • Shredded Lettuce. If there's one single topping on the Whopper that made me scratch my head and go what were they thinking? , it's the roughly chopped iceberg lettuce.
  • The Bun. I quite honestly have no problem at all with the Whopper's bun. It's soft, it's squishy, it's slightly sweet, everything a fast food-style hamburger bun should be.
