For a simple but sensational side dish, I throw together this refreshing broccoli salad with raisins. I adjusted a friend's recipe to cut a few calories. The raisins add sweetness, and the bacon gives it a nice crunch. -Angela Oelschlaeger, Tonganoxie, Kansas

Number Of Ingredients 7

4 cups fresh broccoli florets (1 medium bunch)
3/4 cup golden raisins
1 small red onion, chopped
1/2 cup Miracle Whip
1 tablespoon white vinegar
2 teaspoons sugar
3 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the broccoli, raisins and onion. In a small bowl, combine the Miracle Whip, vinegar and sugar. Pour over broccoli mixture; toss to coat. Sprinkle with bacon. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

1 pound bacon
6 cups chopped broccoli
1 small red onion, finely chopped
1 cup raisins
1 cup mayonnaise
½ cup white sugar
2 tablespoons white vinegar
1 (3 ounce) package sunflower seeds

Steps:

  • Place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain the bacon slices on paper towels and cool. Chop bacon.
  • Mix broccoli, bacon, red onion, and raisins in a bowl.
  • Whisk mayonnaise, sugar, and vinegar together in a bowl; stir dressing into broccoli mixture until evenly coated. Cover bowl and refrigerate for flavors to blend, about 1 hour. Sprinkle salad with sunflower seeds.

1 ½ cups raisins
1 ½ cups unsalted sunflower seeds
½ cup chopped onion
1 cup mayonnaise
¼ cup white sugar
¼ cup granular sucralose sweetener (such as Splenda®)
2 tablespoons white wine vinegar

Steps:

This amazing Broccoli Craisin Salad recipe includes broccoli, raisins, cole slaw, craisins and bacon. It's sweet and sour, crunchy and so very delicious - perfect for a side dish salad or as a potluck salad.

4 heads broccoli, chopped
1/2 bag prepared Coleslaw {more or less if desired}
1/2 cup golden raisins
1/2 cup craisins
1 cup roasted and salted sunflower seeds
8 slices bacon, cooked and chopped
1 cup mayo
1/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Steps:

  • Mix Broccoli, coleslaw, craisins, raisins and crumbled bacon in a large bowl.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the dressing ingredients and pour over the broccoli mixture.
  • Toss well to evenly coat and place in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
  • Right before serving, add the sunflower seeds and toss again to evenly mix.
  • Enjoy!

This is GOOD! A nice LOW FAT salad that will help you get those veggies into your diet! This is NOT an overly sweet salad, but the raisins and sweet red bell pepper help to balance the tart vinegar. This is a favorite of mine and I hope you enjoy it too! This comes from the Sun-Maid Raisin folks!

  • Combine all salad ingredients well.
  • Combine all dressing ingredients well and, pour dressing over salad.
