The BEST Frosted Banana Bars image

These super moist, frosted banana bars are the perfect dessert for any occasion! Bake in a 9×13 pan and top with smooth cream cheese frosting for the perfect dessert for a crowd!

1/2 cup butter (softened)
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
2 large eggs
3/4 cup sour cream ((8oz tub))
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon cornstarch (this mades them more moist but if you don't have it, you can leave it out)
2.5 cups all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
1.5 cups mashed bananas ((about 2-3 large bananas))
8 oz cream cheese (softened)
1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3.5 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray metal 9x13" pan with nonstick cooking spray and lightly dust with flour (or cover in parchment paper). See notes below for baking in jelly roll pan.
  • In a small mixing bowl, mash bananas with a fork until broken up. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth (about 1 minute). While the mixer is on low, add in the eggs, sour cream, vanilla extract, baking soda, and salt. Add cornstarch and flour and mix until combined. Lastly, mix in mashed bananas until incorporated; do not overmix.
  • Pour batter into greased 9×13 pan and bake at 350 degrees for 28-30 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean. Top should be slightly golden brown, as shown in the photo above. Allow bars to cool completely before frosting.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, sour cream and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in bananas. , Spread into a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean (do not overbake), 20-25 minutes. Cool., For frosting, in a large bowl, beat cream cheese, butter and vanilla until fluffy. Gradually beat in enough confectioners' sugar to achieve desired consistency. Frost bars. You didn't hear it from us, but Banana Bars with cream cheese frosting will fly off the plate, so make sure to save yourself a few before serving them.

1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup mashed very ripe bananas (2 medium)
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt
1 package (3 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened

Steps:

2 cups powdered sugar
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted

Steps:

  • Melt 1/4 cup butter in 1-quart saucepan over medium heat.
  • Cook, stirring constantly and watching closely, until butter just starts to turn golden (5 to 6 minutes. Butter will get foamy and bubble.)
  • Remove from heat and cool completely.
  • Combine browned butter, powdered sugar, cream cheese and vanilla in small bowl.
  • Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until smooth (2 to 3 minutes).
  • Frost cooled bars.
  • Sprinkle with pecans.

9 ounces cake flour (about 2 1/4 cups)
3/4 t. baking soda

1/4 c. nonfat buttermilk
1 t. vanilla extract
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 1/4 c. granulated sugar
2 large eggs
Baking spray with flour

FROSTING:
1/4 c. butter
2 c. powdered sugar
1/3 c, (3 ounces) 1/3-less-fat cream cheese, softened
1 t. vanilla extract
1/4 c. chopped pecans, toasted

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400°. 2. To prepare bars, combine banana, brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon butter in an 8-inch square baking dish. Bake at 400° for 35 minutes, stirring after 17 minutes. Cool slightly. 3. Reduce the oven temperature to 375°. 4. Weigh or lightly spoon cake flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine 9 ounces (about 2 1/4 cups) flour, soda, and baking powder in a medium bowl. Combine banana mixture, buttermilk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla in another medium bowl.
