1 TBS honey
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Slice grapefruit in half.
  • Drizzle the cut halves with the honey and sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • Bake 10-15 minutes. Serve hot with grapefruit spoon.

2 grapefruit, cut in half
6 tablespoons brown sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven's broiler and set the oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source.
  • Place grapefruit halves, cut sides up, onto a baking sheet; sprinkle each with about 1 1/2 tablespoon of brown sugar.
  • Broil the grapefruit until the brown sugar has melted and begun to bubble, 3 to 8 minutes. Let cool for a few minutes before eating warm.

2 grapefruits
4 teaspoons clear honey or 4 teaspoons maple syrup
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Halve grapefruits and remove pith with a knife.
  • Loosen the sections.
  • Pour some honey into the centre of each grapefruit. Alternately drizzle the top with honey or maple syrup (thanks Ladypit!).
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • Bake at 190C/375F for 15 minutes.

3 grapefruits
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 egg whites 1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups vanilla ice cream Special equipment: 6 (4-ounce) ramekins

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 450 degrees F. Remove the ends of the grapefruits to stabilize on the cutting board. Using a sharp knife, remove the skin and bitter pith from the flesh. Over a small bowl, hold grapefruit in 1 hand and carefully remove the segments by sliding the knife between the flesh and the membrane. Toss grapefruit pieces with brown sugar and vanilla and divide among 6 ramekins. In a large bowl, beat egg whites until light and fluffy. Add sugar and beat until meringue is glossy and holds stiff peaks. Top each ramekin with 1/4 cup of ice cream. Cover with meringue and bake until golden brown, about 7 minutes.

3 red grapefruit
1 large orange, peeled and sectioned
1 medium banana, sliced
1/3 cup orange or lemon flavored or regular pitted dried plums, coarsely, snipped
2 tablespoons orange liqueur
1 tablespoon margarine or butter, cut into small pieces
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Halve each grapefruit cut a very thin slice from the bottom of each half so grapefruit will sit flat. Use a grapefruit knife or other small knife to cut around the outer edge to loosen fruit from shell. Cut between each segment to loosen it from membrane. 2. In a bowl combine orange sections, banana slices, prunes, and if using, liqueur. Mound the orange mixture atop the grapefruit halves. Dot each half with margarine or butter. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon sprinkle over fruit mixture. Place in a 3-quart rectangular baking dish. Bake, uncovered, for 12 minutes or until grapefruit is warm and topping is hot. This is my favorite way to eat grapefruit. By heating the grapefruit up you really bring out the flavors. I usually skip the mint unless I have it on hand, but it makes it look nicer and adds a nice flavor if you are serving to guests.

Steps:

  • Use a knife to separate the grapefruit into sections.
  • Sprinkle 1/2 tbsp of brown sugar on each half.
  • Drizzle 1/2 tbsp of honey on each half.
  • Bake at 350 for 12 to 15 minutes or until top has formed a carmalized crust.
  • Garnish with mint.
