1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup apple cider or juice
3 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons Montreal steak seasoning
1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
1 pound bulk pork sausage
6 onion rolls, split
1/3 cup mayonnaise
6 slices onion
6 romaine leaves

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the first five ingredients. Add beef and sausage; mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape into six patties., In a large skillet, cook burgers over medium heat 5-7 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 160°. Spread rolls with mayonnaise; top with burgers, onion and romaine.

2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
3 cups sliced onions (about 2)
3/4 cup dry red wine (such as Cabernet Sauvignon)
1 lb ground buffalo meat (bison)
2 tablespoons chopped shallots
1/4 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
4 hamburger buns
6 ounces sliced wisconsin white cheddar cheese
2 -3 tablespoons Dijon mustard (to taste)
1 small head escarole, leaves separated

Steps:

  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil in heavy medium skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions, sprinkle with salt, and sauté until tender and golden brown, stirring often, about 10 minutes.
  • Reduce heat to medium and continue to sauté until very tender and well browned, about 15 minutes longer. Add wine and cook, stirring occasionally, until liquid is absorbed, about 5 minutes. (Can be made 3 days ahead. Cool, cover, and chill.).
  • Preheat broiler. Gently mix meat and next 3 ingredients in large bowl. Shape into four 1/2-inch-thick patties. Heat remaining 1 tablespoon oil in heavy large skillet over high heat. Sprinkle burgers with salt and pepper; add to skillet. Cook until well browned, about 2 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  • Open buns and arrange, cut side up, on rimmed baking sheet. Place cheese slices on bun tops. Broil until cheese melts and bottom halves are lightly toasted, about 1 minute. Spread bottom halves with mustard. Top each with a few escarole leaves, then burger. Spoon onions on top pf burgers, dividing equally. Cover with bun tops; press lightly.

1/2 cup crumbled cooked bacon
1 envelope onion soup mix
2 pounds ground beef
8 hamburger buns, split
Lettuce leaves and tomato slices, optional

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the cheese, bacon and soup mix. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into eight patties., Grill burgers, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 in. from the heat for 5-7 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 160° and juices run clear. Serve on buns with lettuce and tomato if desired.

2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ cup real bacon bits
4 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • Preheat grill for high heat.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, Cheddar cheese, horseradish, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and bacon bits using your hands. Shape the mixture into 4 hamburger patties.
  • Lightly oil the grill grate. Place hamburger patties on the grill, and cook for 5 minutes per side, or until well done. Serve on buns.

  • Combine all burger ingredients in a large bowl, using either your hands or a wooden spoon to evenly mix everything.
  • Once everything is combined, shape patties. You have a few options here:- Shape into 5" patties using your hands. Use the bottom of a glass to create an indentation in the middle of the patty.- Spoon meat mixture into a mini tart pan that has an indented bottom and press to compact it. Tap a few times and the patty will fall out. This is my preferred method, keeps the patties uniform in size and my hands stay clean.
