Chicken and paprika are considered an especially winning combination all over the world. This basic Paprika Chicken recipe is so easy, yet so good. Enjoy! Add chili powder or dried chives to the seasoning if desired.

6 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
ground black pepper to taste
1 pinch garlic powder
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
2 teaspoons paprika

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Place chicken breasts side by side in baking dish. Sprinkle to taste with ground black pepper, garlic powder, poultry seasoning, and paprika. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes, until chicken is no longer pink inside and the juices run clear. Check often and add a little water if the chicken starts to stick to the dish.

My father would make this when I was a child. When I make it now, it reminds me of home. It is a milk, rich and creamy recipe. My family's all time favorite! A one-skillet dish. Serve over hot cooked egg noodles or rice, if desired.

4 breast half, bone and skin removed (blank)s skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
1 ½ tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup chopped onion
1 ½ tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons paprika
½ teaspoon salt
2 cups chicken stock
1 teaspoon all-purpose flour
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream

Steps:

  • You can leave breasts whole or cut them up, whatever your preference. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add chicken and pan-fry until cooked through and juices run clear, about 10 minutes. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
  • Using the same skillet, cook onion in butter until translucent but not brown, about 5 to 8 minutes. Season with paprika and salt. Pour chicken stock into the pan, and bring all to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer; mix flour with sour cream until smooth, then whisk into chicken stock. Place chicken in skillet; simmer until chicken is heated through and sauce has thickened.

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1/2 c all-purpose flour (or more as needed for coating)
2 eggs, beaten
1 Tbsp oil
1/4 c olive oil
1 c bread crumbs (up to 2 cups)
1 tsp paprika
salt and pepper, to taste
2 lemons, quartered

Steps:

  • 1. Butterfly chicken breasts.
  • 2. Dredge in flour, then set aside.
  • 3. Combine eggs, 1 tablespoon oil, paprika, salt, and pepper; mixing well.
  • 4. Dip floured chicken breasts in egg mixture, then immediately into bread crumbs, coating evening.
  • 5. Heat ¼ cup oil in a large skillet. Cook chicken breasts until lightly browned on one side, then flip; 3 to 4 minutes a side.
  • 6. Drain on paper towels while cooking the rest.
  • 7. Serve hot with red cabbage and mashed potatoes, or with french fries.
  • 8. Garnish with lemon wedges to squeeze on the schnitzel. Enjoy!

1/4 cup butter, cubed
1 large onion, chopped
1 broiler/fryer chicken (4 to 5 pounds), cut up
2 tablespoons paprika
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1-1/2 cups water
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons cold water
1 cup sour cream

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large skillet, heat butter over medium-high heat. Add onion; cook and stir until tender. Sprinkle chicken with paprika, salt and pepper; place in an ungreased roasting pan. Spoon onion mixture over chicken. Add water. Bake, covered, 1-1/2 hours or until chicken juices run clear., Remove chicken and keep warm. Pour drippings and loosened browned bits from roasting pan into a saucepan. Skim fat. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and cold water until smooth. Stir into pan juices with onion. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until thickened, 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in sour cream. Serve with chicken.

3 tablespoons sweet paprika
2 tablespoons flour
1/4 cup peanut oil
4 cups onions, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1 teaspoon carawy seeds, toasted and ground
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 cup tomato, concasse
2 tablespoons minced marjoram leaves
1 teaspoon minced thyme leaves
1 bay leaf
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 cup dry white wine
2 cups chicken stock
1/4 cup heavy cream
2 red bell peppers, both roasted, peeled, cored, seeded, and 1 cut into 1 inch by 1/4-inch strips
2 tablespoons minced parsley leaves
2 tablespoons creme fraiche

Steps:

  • Cut each chicken breast into 3 pieces. Season with salt, pepper and 1 tablespoon of paprika. Lightly coat with flour. In a braising pan, heat peanut oil. Sear chicken pieces until brown on all sides. Remove the chicken from the pan and place in a tray. Add onions to the pan and saute for 5 minutes until golden brown. Add the garlic and cumin seeds. Cook 1 more minute. Add the tomato paste, tomato, and remaining 2 tablespoons of paprika. Stir until well blended. Add the marjoram, thyme and bay leaf. Deglaze with the vinegar and wine. Add chicken stock. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Add the reserved chicken pieces and cover with a piece of vented parchment paper. Simmer for 20 minutes. 2 ounces butter
1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 small onion, minced
1 loaf white bread, crust trimmed
2 teaspoons minced thyme
2 teaspoons minced chives
1 teaspoon minced parsley
1/4 cup flour
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/4 cup milk
Salt and pepper
Freshly ground nutmeg, to taste

Steps:

  • Cut each chicken breast into 3 pieces. Season with salt, pepper and 1 tablespoon of paprika. Lightly coat with flour. In a braising pan, heat peanut oil. Sear chicken pieces until brown on all sides. Remove the chicken from the pan and place in a tray.

  • Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F.
  • In a saute pan, over medium high heat, melt the butter. Cook the garlic and onions until translucent. Do not allow to develop color.
  • Cut the bread into 1/2-inch cubes. Place in a baking sheet and bake in the oven to dry, about 20 minutes. Do not allow to develop color. Transfer to a large mixing bowl. Pour the onion mixture all over the bread. Add the thyme, chives, parsley and flour. Toss to evenly distribute the herbs with the bread and flour.
  • In a small bowl, combine the egg and milk. Add to the bread mixture. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg, to taste.
  • Divide the mixture into 6 portions. Wrap each portion in plastic wrap, roll and secure the ends, shaping like a large sausage. Wrap with a layer of aluminum foil.
  • Prepare a steamer. Add wrapped dumplings to the steamer and steam for about 20 minutes. Remove from the pot and unwrap. Slice into 1-inch disks.
  • Yield: 6 servings

This is traditional comfort food of Austria and Hungary. Tender chicken is surrounded by a rich creamy sauce with paprika.

5 tablespoon(s) butter
2 pound(s) boneless, skinless chicken breasts and thighs
1 medium onion, chopped
1 cup(s) chicken broth
1/2 cup(s) white wine
3 tablespoon(s) hungarian sweet paprika
1/2` teaspoon(s) salt
1 teaspoon(s) black pepper
2 tablespoon(s) flour, as needed for coating chicken
1 cup(s) sour cream

Steps:

  • Chop chicken into 1" pieces and dry and dust lightly with flour.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat until it is hot.
  • Melt 1/4 C butter. Add chicken, paprika, salt and pepper, and saute until the chicken is lightly browned. Remove chicken from pan and tent chicken in the pan.
  • Add remaining 1 T butter to pan and saute onions until they are translucent.
  • Return chicken to pan. Add chicken broth, wine, and gently simmer over low heat until chicken is cooked through.
  • Remove chicken from pan and tent loosely with foil
  • Stir 2 T of flour into the pan and boil until the sauce has thickened to your taste.
  • Add sour cream and return chicken to the pan and coat with the sauce.
  • Serve with spaetzle or egg noodles.

12 pieces skinless chicken, washed and patted dry
salt and pepper, to taste
paprika, to taste
8 Tbsp butter, melted
2 c flour (place in plastic bag)
1 lemon, halved
2 c hot water
2 chicken bouillon cubes
1 c sour cream

Steps:

  • 1. Lightly sprinkle chicken with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  • 2. Pour melted butter into shallow bowl. Dip chicken pieces in butter, coating well. Put 2 pieces of chicken at a time in a plastic bag with flour. Close the bag, and shake it gently until chicken is coated with flour.
  • 3. Place chicken in greased baking pan and sprinkle with more paprika, salt, and pepper. Squeeze juice from half a lemon over chicken, then bake at 400 F for 1 hour.
  • 4. Turn oven off. Put chicken pieces on ovenproof serving platter and return to oven to keep warm.
  • 5. Gravy: Pour drippings from baking pan into a saucepan and heat. Sprinkle 2 tbsp. flour from bag over drippings and stir until brown.
  • 6. Add hot water, bouillon cubes, a pinch of salt, pepper, paprika, sour cream, and juice from other lemon half. Stir until ingredients are blended. Serve with chicken.
  • 7. Preparation/cooking/baking time: 2 hours Serves 4 to 6 *To reduce the fat content of this dish, substitute some or all of the sour cream with low-fat yogurt.
