Ingredients

2 cups thinly sliced white cabbage
2 cups thinly sliced red cabbage
1 medium carrot, washed and grated
2 teaspoons caraway seeds
2 tablespoons flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
Pinch of sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

Combine the cabbage, carrot, caraway seeds and parsley in a medium salad bowl. Whisk the dressing ingredients together in a small bowl. Drizzle the dressing over the coleslaw mix, then season with salt and black pepper to your taste, and toss well.

Growing up, I had never eaten or even heard of a creamy cole slaw dressing...this was the only one my Mom ever made...to this day I love it. A nice change from the mayo based recipes not to mention this one works better for cook outs or picnics where you don't want milk or mayo based salads. If you want it sugar free - just use sugar subsitute

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
1 cup oil
1/2 cup vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1 dash garlic salt
1 head cabbage

Steps:

Finely shred cabbage.
Mix dressing ingredients well and pour over finely shredded cabbage.
Allow to sit for several hours in the fridge before serving.

I love trying out different side dishes when I go to BBQ joints, and this recipe is a combination of some of the best slaws I've had in Georgia, Alabama, and Texas. It's not your typical, creamy mayonnaise slaw you may be used to...so keep that in mind! You decide on how much cabbage/carrots to use, depending on how wet you like your coleslaw.

4 tablespoons seafood cocktail sauce
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
cabbage, shredded
carrot, shredded

Steps:

Slice some cabbage into shreds.
Shred some carrots and add to the cabbage.
Blend the sauce ingredients well, until the sugar is dissolved.
Pour over cabbage mixture and refrigerate overnite.

1 head green cabbage, shredded
2 carrots, grated
1 small red onion, thinly sliced
2 scallions, sliced thin
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 pinch sugar
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
hot sauce
salt
pepper

Steps:

Combine all ingredients and mix well. Let flavors combine at least two hours before serving.

In a small bowl, whisk the mayonnaise and the pepper sauce together until smooth. Start with 1 tablespoon of the pepper sauce and increase it based on you taste or the heat level of the sauce. Add the salt and black pepper and mix well.
Add the dressing to the vegetables and mix well. The coleslaw may seem a bit dry at this point. Allow to rest in the fridge for about 20 minutes. The flavors will develop and the dressing with marry with the juices from the cabbage and make even more dressing. Stir again before serving adjusting seasoning and adding additional pepper sauce or mayo if desired.
