Easy Cream Cheese Danish with Apples Recipe image

Our delicious Cream Cheese Danish are so easy to make because they use Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls dough. Topped with apples and drizzled with icing, these Apple Cream Cheese Danish are sure to be a hit!

8 oz Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls
4 oz cream cheese (room temperature )
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsps sugar
8 ounces canned apple filling

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees f.
  • Line a large pan with parchment paper.
  • In a medium-sized bowl add the cream cheese, extract, and sugar.
  • Beat cream cheese mixture until light and fluffy.
  • Unwrap cinnamon rolls and gently stretch each out making a small impression in the center of the dough.
  • Make sure each roll has at least 2 inches of space to spread on the sheet.
  • Add about 1 tablespoon of cream cheese filling to each cinnamon roll danish.
  • Repeat with about 1 tablespoon of apple filling.
  • Bake for 13 minutes at 350 degrees f.
  • Remove from oven and move danish to a cooling rack.
  • Add icing cup to microwave for 10 seconds to warm.
  • Using a spoon, add an even amount of icing to each.
  • Enjoy warm.

This super easy apple-cream cheese Danish recipe using crescent rolls and canned fried apples is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even dessert.

cooking spray
½ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 (8 ounce) packages refrigerated crescent roll dough, divided
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
½ cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (20 ounce) can apple pie filling
½ cup unsalted butter, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a 9x13-inch baking pan with cooking spray. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon together; set aside.
  • Unroll one can of crescent roll dough and pat together on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • Beat cream cheese, white sugar, and vanilla together until smooth. Spread over the dough. Layer the apple filling over the cream cheese layer. Top with second package of crescent roll dough, patting the seams together. Drizzle butter on top and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden and bubbly, 40 to 45 minutes.

As a teacher who has lived in eight different towns and taught in 11 schools in three provinces, I have sampled a multitude of staff room goodies and collected many recipes. The one for this delightful cheesecake has traveled with me since my second school. It's an excellent brunch item.

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup ground almonds
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup cold butter
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
FILLING:
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 egg, lightly beaten
TOPPING:
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 cups thinly sliced peeled tart apples
1/3 cup slivered almonds

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine flour, almonds and sugar; cut in butter until crumbly. Add extract. Shape dough into a ball; place between two sheets of waxed paper. Roll out into a 10-in. circle. Transfer to a greased 9-in. springform pan; gently press dough against the bottom and up the sides of pan. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. , In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar and cream of tartar until smooth. Add egg; beat on low just until combined. Pour over crust. , In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, flour and cinnamon. Add apples and stir until coated. Spoon over the filling. Sprinkle with almonds., Bake at 350° for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Carefully run a knife around edge of pan to loosen; cool 1 hour longer. Refrigerate overnight. Remove sides of pan.

Transfer to the prepared baking pan, pressing pastry to edges of pan. Bake about 12 minuets or until golden (pastry will puff ad shrink from sides of pan). Cool on a wire rack.
  • Meanwhile, in an extra-large skillet heat butter over medium heat until melted. Add apples; cook about 8 minutes or until apples are crisp-tender, stirring occasionally. In a small bowl combine 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar, the flour, 1/2 teaspoon of the cinnamon, and the nutmeg. Sprinkle over apples. Cook and stir over medium-low heat for 2 minutes more. Set aside.
  • In a medium mixing bowl beat cream cheese and the remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla just until combined. Carefully spread cream cheese mixture over baked pastry to within 1 inch of the edges. Spoon apple mixture over cream cheese mixture (I did not include the syrup/juices in the apples).
  • On a lightly floured surface, unfold the remaining pastry sheet and roll into a 13×10-inch rectangle (make sure pastry is large enough to completely cover apple mixture ). Place on top of apple mixture. Lightly press edges of top pastry to edges of bottom pastry. Lightly brush top pastry with milk. Using a sharp knife, cut a few slits in pastry to allow steam to escape. In a small bowl combine coarse sugar and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; sprinkle over pastry.
