CINNAMON-APPLE ANGEL FOOD CAKE

Number Of Ingredients 13

1-1/2 cups egg whites (about 10 eggs)
1-1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 cup cake flour
1-1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
GLAZE:
1/3 cup butter, cubed
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 to 4 tablespoons apple juice or cider

Steps:

  • Place egg whites in a large bowl; let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Sift confectioners' sugar and flour together twice; set aside. , Add cream of tartar, vanilla and almond extract and salt to egg whites; beat on medium speed until soft peaks form. Gradually add granulated sugar, about 2 tablespoons at a time, beating on high until stiff glossy peaks form and sugar is dissolved. Gradually fold in flour mixture, about 1/2 cup at a time., Gently spoon into an ungreased 10-in. tube pan. Cut through the batter with a knife to remove air pockets. Bake on the lowest oven rack at 375° for 35-40 minutes or until lightly browned and entire top appears dry. Immediately invert pan; cool completely, about 1 hour. , Run a knife around side and center tube of pan. Remove cake to a serving plate. , For glaze, melt butter in a small saucepan. Stir in the confectioners' sugar and cinnamon until blended. Add apple juice slowly until glaze is thin enough to achieve a drizzle consistency. Drizzle over cake.

16 ounce Betty Crocker Angel Food Cake Mix box {make sure to use the 'just add water' variety}
21 ounces Apple Pie Filling can ({or use homemade Apple Pie filling})
2 tsp. Cinnamon
Optional: Cool Whip for Topping

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a large mixing bowl, stir powder cake mix, cinnamon, and pie filling together with a large wooden spoon.
  • Transfer mixture into 9x13 ungreased glass or ceramic baking dish. {Do NOT grease pan}
  • Bake for 30 - 35 minutes, or until top is golden brown.
  • After baking, it is completely normal for your cake to fall in the middle as it cools.
  • Cut into 12 squares, and top with optional whip cream and additional sprinkles of cinnamon on top. ENJOY!

1 package (16 ounces) angel food cake mix
1 cup water
2/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans, toasted
1 teaspoon apple pie spice
Reduced-fat whipped topping and/or apple slices, optional

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine cake mix and water. Beat on low speed for 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed for 1 minute. Fold in the applesauce, pecans and pie spice., Gently spoon into an ungreased 10-in. tube pan. Cut through batter with a knife to remove air pockets. Bake on the lowest oven rack at 350° for 35-45 minutes or until lightly browned and entire top appears dry. Immediately invert pan; cool completely, about 1 hour., Run a knife around side and center tube of pan. Remove cake to a serving plate. Garnish with whipped topping and/or apple slices if desired.

21 oz. apple pie filling
1 angel food cake mix
(use the "one step" kind that only requires adding water)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease or spray 13" x 9" pan or baking dish with 'Pam' or equivalent cooking spray.
  • 2. Combine pie filling with dry cake mix (do not add water). Spread in prepared pan.
  • 3. Bake in preheated 350°F oven for 20 min., or until cake part is no longer damp. Top should be lightly browned.
  • 4. Cool a little while and cut into 16 portions. Serve with ice cream if desired.
  • 5. NOTE: You can substitute any flavor of pie filling for the apple, depending on your tastes.

1 container of cool whip

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix can of pie filling with dry cake mix. {No other ingredients} Stir until blended. Pour into a sprayed 9x13 baking dish. Top with walnuts if desired. Bake at least 25-30 minutes or when an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Note: You can use any flavor pie filling you want, so you can make lots of variations.

Steps:

  • 1. Mix the dry angel food cake mix with apple pie filling,pour into a greased 9x13 cake pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar or Splenda sugar.
  • 2. Bake at 350F for 20-30 minutes. Do not over bake the cake is done when browned on the top but not completely set. (If using a glass pan bake 325F)
  • 3. Remove from oven and serve with a dollop of cool whip, also great with vanilla ice cream and caramel.

1/2 cup reduced-fat sour cream
1 carton (8 ounces) frozen reduced-fat whipped topping, thawed

Steps:

  • Line an ungreased 13-in. x 9-in. dish with cake cubes. Cover with pie filling. , In a bowl, whisk milk and pudding mix for 2 minutes. Stir in sour cream. Carefully spread over pie filling; top with whipped topping. , Cover and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving. Refrigerate leftovers.
